Dan and Tammy decided to fill their empty nest by moving to the country and starting Dogwood Acres. They were inspired first by Nikki, a beagle who was found with a hunting collar embedded in her neck, a tumor in her armpit, needed 16 teeth removed, and who had such a severe ear infection, her ear was mangled. They were further inspired by Agnus, or “Aggie” as we called her; a very senior beagle found stray that was completely deaf and blind. We felt she was aptly named because Agnus means “holy,” and God surely was watching over her out there on her own for her to make it. We had a wonderful 9 months loving and spoiling her before she passed of congestive heart failure.

Welcome to Dogwood Acres, where compassion meets care! Inspired by our beloved beagles, Nikki and Aggie, Dan Jones, US Army (ret.) and Tammy Jones provide a loving sanctuary for dogs in need. With the support of our family—five children, thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren—we ensure every pup receives plenty of love, attention, and treats.
